On June 28, 1989, the board of directors of Daewoo Academy, an educational corporation, decided to establish Geoje University. Geoje University received approval for establishment from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on December 1 of the same year, and is located within Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd., 933 Ayang-dong, Geoje-si # The MO2 building was leased and opened as a two-year junior college in March 1990. In February 1996, the school moved to its current location in Jangseungpo-dong, and changed its name to Geoje University on May 1, 1998, playing a central role in professional technology education in today’s industrialized society. On August 31, 2007, at the 8th board of directors of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd., it was decided to operate Geoje University by receiving it as a gift from Daewoo Academy, and on November 8, 2007, the school corporation Seyoung Academy was founded and on January 21, 2008. It received approval to establish a school corporation from the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development and established Geoje University as an affiliate.
